South Kearns Elementary School

This school is ridiculous. The teachers are naive. Bullying is always a constant issue. The way they do things is a huge issue for me as a parent. Oh and the receptionist will give you a hard time if she is having a bad day. Beware parents!! Please do your research and also academics is at an all time low year round. Good luck

I AGREE, bullying is a HUGE issue here, my son is constantly getting bullied, and because he had a few behavioral issues (last year) they discredit his objectives. They have done a sweep of almost the entire staff, we now have a principle, whom isn't politically correct, in fact she's quite crass. She told a parent that she is "unfit" because she allowed her daughter to read a book of her choice, a book that may be out of her grade level, but, it's age appropriate, "Charlotte's Web". I'm sorry, but if my child wants to (and he does) try to challenge himself, in reading books, that are a bit tougher, he's allowed to do so, that doesn't make myself, nor the other parent "unfit" it makes us a parent that understands that it's OKAY for a child to reach further than their expectancy. This is my sons second year here, I moved them out of South Salt Lake, thinking this would be a better option, NOPE, I couldn't have been more wrong, and I bought my home down the street, so I am stuck. They do not correspond with parents, whatsoever. Also, the teachers kick the students off the property, when they are waiting for parents to pick them up, after school, I have spoken with other parents, in which one of them was furious because they told one of the Kinder gardeners that she had to walk home (alone) all in the name of " because they want to go home". I get that you want to go home, after a long day, but if you are in that profession, your MAIN priority should be the students SAFETY, no questions about it. I was thinking about getting an IEP, to help my son with his developmental self, and I won't, not at this school, I feel it would harm him, more than help him. I am currently looking at other schools, because this one is UNFIT!

South Kearns is so amazing there is after school programs

Never been there, or gone to school there but it's gotta be a safe place for children, I hope anyway.
