JJ Fish & Chicken Grill

We were next door getting my son's hair cut and we needed to think about food. This place was right next door and I hadn't been to a JJ over 5 year since I moved from California.nnHusband went over and ordered honey BBQ chicken tenders for me, which were not on the menu, but they made it anyway. We also ordered a chicken phili, and another plate of regular chicken tenders for my son. Of course they all came in a nice large plate with a side of delicious fries. I added the fried okra as well to my order since its been a while and I'm breastfeeding and wanted veggies.nnMy custom chicken tenders were perfect and hit the spot. They were crispy and covered with the right amount of sauce which I used to dip my fries in. The okra was the same as I remembered from back home which makes being a transplant so much easier when we find pieces of our old home in the new place.nnMy son loved his chicken tenders and fries, he said it's the best thus far in the area.nnHubby devoured his chicken phili but said it was missing onions and peppers which are usually standard on a phili. Note...ask for onions and peppers when you order this. Otherwise he like the portions and flavor.nnThat was the food part. Now, let's talk about service. My husband placed the order and paid for it but I had to go pick it up since he was with the little one. I went in and told them I was picking up my husband's order and they knew what I was talking about and made sure I had everything we needed. I handed him a card to pay because I wasn't sure if we paid or not. There was a guy behind me that said, yeah she paid her husband when he was in here I saw it. That felt nice. The cashier remembered my husband paying but checked just incase. I would have felt bad leaving without making sure we paid for our food.nnAnyway, next time we're out that way, we will be back getting our order again. This place is another piece of home for me so I'll visit when I'm in the area again.nnBetween juggling the little one and being hungry as heck...we didnt get photos...so im sharing my family pic from that day. This place is a surprise in a small package. Dosen't look like much from the outside, but when you step in the place it smells awesome. I ordered gizzards and everyone else got philly sandwiches and chicken n fish. All of it was great and very very fulfilling! Definitely going back for more while working in the city.

After driving from Edwardsville only to have our original lunch plans fall through, JJ's saved the day! Great food, good prices and excellent service! Well worth the drive.

People where nice as they can be but the food just wasnt all that great. Two guys that worked there was more than nice. Would recommend putting condiments foe burgers or sandwiches on the side instead directly on the burger. Some other fish and chicken places put the lettuce, onion and tomatoes etc on the side and dont put mayo and stuff on it. Other than they the people once again was nice.
