I went to school there (called North Avenue Elementary). My mother yanked me out of a parochial school when that school did not have enough qualified teachers for my grade. My first exposure to a school library happened at North Avenue Elementary when our 5th grade class toured the small library and I was told that I could check out a book to read at home. That got me reading Freddy the Pig series that exposed me to cultural and morality issues within the story line. Got to experience bullying from Butch and Jimmy and to this day do not like bullies. But my 6th and 7th grade teachers (Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Schneider) put on a learning path that has served me well all my life. They are long gone but their positive impact on me lives on.

Special interest museum with a wonderful idea ud83dudca1 for homeschooling or distance learning this year. Went here with the grandkids last year before the whole COVID-19 ud83eudda0 thing started up. Make sure to make plans ahead and display your parking pass. The bathrooms could use some work, so if need accessibility bathrooms plan ahead.

Please make sure when coming with a school, please bring a sign in sticker from your school, otherwise you are NOT allowed in, no matter what you've paid. Good luck!

Seems to be not much of a museum. The attendant could not be bothered to even turn all the lights on, let alone dust off the displays.
