This is a small history museum about New Smyrna Beach. It is free. Employees are cheerful and friendly. They have numerous old photographs of people that contributed to the early development of the area. They have old artifacts that were found from early settlers. They have a few short video presentations too. They have small wooden, handmade model ships with tiny hand painted little people that accompany the ships. They have some old clothing from early settlers too. Then they have a newer room with surfing equipment and history. Visiting this museum is a pleasant way to spend some time.
This is quite the place and well worth the visit. The volunteers were enthusiastic and welcoming. The displays are really top notch and present the history of New Smyrna from it's beginnings up to the present. Give yourself an hour or more to visit.
Definitely worth a visit. The unassuming entry hides a lot of great history and displays. The Museum is suitable for all ages and they have great programs. I just went to one about the pottery found in the area and it was very interesting.
New Smyrna is worth visiting.
A nice little museum to learn the history of New Smyrna on a rainy day. Lovely, knowledgeable volunteers.
