Located roughly an hour from the West End of Richmond. The drive there is gorgeous. The museum is a great with lots of pictures, pottery and information packed exhibits. The tour guide, Ethan, was great at talking with kids (aged 4-10) and adults. He was well informed and presented material in an in interesting way. We picnicked on the lawn afterwards and had a blast.

My granddaughter visited yesterday, before we started a kayak trip. We had a very good experience. Out host was very knowledgeable, informative, and respectful. We learned a great deal from him! Thank you!.

Unique museum with tens of thousands of years of native American history. Definitely worth visiting. :)

I learned a lot! I loved learning the history, art, physics, culture and geography! It was terrific seeing the scientific tests and recreations of ancient ways of doing things. Interesting to see the first hand historical accounts and drawings from the 1600s. The stone cutting display was super interesting and educational. Some of the signs in the display could be refreshed but it was still a thoroughly enjoyable experience.nnThe gift shop was very reasonably priced and had an interesting variety of local crafts.nnThe place is small so if you are a walk and browse person, it would be a quick visit. If you are a read and examine person you could spend a few hours.nnThe original schoolhouse is next door, you can walk around it.nnFree easy parking. Call before going to confirm they will be open.

The museum houses a collection of artefacts, often presented in their development from natural materials to the finished tools. The preservation of the Pamunkey traditions of beadwork, pottery and many other practical utensils is ensured within this mportant small building, which might benefit from an expansion, if the funds were available. This was a very interesting visit.
