This is probably one of the worst Holiday Inns I've ever stayed in. The floors of my room and all the surfaces were very sticky even the toilet seat. I had to take my own hand sanitizer and wipe all the surfaces. I asked housekeeping to please clean the floor and they mopped it for 5 minutes and left. The floor was just as sticky as it was before. It was so sticky that my boots would make the loudest sound with each step. The room itself had a terrible stench of old mop water, that I had to leave the window open in the cold weather. Either they treat their housekeeping staff very bad (and don't provide adequate supplies) or they need a new staff. I did not feel safe from COVID-19 at all during my stay here. The only good thing about my stay were the very nice front desk attendants. Don't ignore the bad reviews like I did. There are plenty of other affordable hotels around Richmond.

Under renovation and should have simply been closed until its done. Room wasn't terrible but there was dust everywhere, halls were gross. and it was noisy, it seemed like the folks doing the reno were staying on site and partying.

If you value your health, do NOT stay at the Holiday Inn Richmond South - City Gateway. I needed to travel to SC to care for a relative, a trip I have been making for the past 7 years and routinely use this hotel as stopover. Since this is the first time traveling since March, I checked their website to confirm their covid precautions. Saw that they were in alignment with CDC guidelines (sanitizing, mask requirements for staff & guests, etc). Both front desk staff had their masks on their chin, housekeeper had no mask at all, construction worker in lobby (hotel under renovations) had no mask. When I complained, the desk staff (standing next to a masks required sign) with her mask on her chin, was nonplussed. I will never stay here again.
