FANTASTIC. You have to ud83dudc40 it for yourself. 7 acres of things to look at. A gun library you can spend all day in, plus three other branches to see. One entry fee and you get in for two days (keep your stub) so that you get time to ud83dudc40 everything. Nice eatery in there, but you can go to restaurants close by and come back. Cody, Wyoming is the place to visit if you want to see guns, learn about native Americans, and learn about Buffalo Bill Cody's life and what influences.
Very fun to walk through but you need at least two days to take your time and see it all. It is very large 3 floors and 7 acres to walk. Not really easy to navigate even with the map they give you. Just had to ask someone where the bathrooms were.nIt's a good history teaching walking activitie. There are a lot of nice statutes. They had a man set up outside cooking over a fire just like back in the old west.
Awesome Museum! We were moving to Washington and I found out this Museum was on the way. We stayed two nights in Cody just so we could explore this place. The collection of guns is extraordinary! Some of the detailing was gorgeous. We really enjoyed ourselves and all the history this Museum has to offer. It was even better when we went because the Museum wasn't crowded. I would definitely tour again.
These five connected museums are the equal of any place in any major city - maybe superior to a lot of them. There aren't enough superlatives to describe the quality of the collections, the presentations, or even the informed staff. I walked in at 9am and didn't stop looking until the 4:30 announcement that the place was closing in half an hour... a second day would have been better to catch everything. I liked it so much I joined; maybe that will help bring me back to Wyoming!
This was on my list of western art museums to visit, and it did not disappoint. Having several museums with different themes under one roof is a good concept; I also enjoyed the exhibit about the Cody Stampede, and what it means to the town. Definitely worth visiting if you're in Cody!
