This place is amazing! It's hard to fathom how much effort is has taken to build a real castle in the middle of the mountains. The building is impressive with a huge cathedral ceiling and twin spires. The last few feet open away from the rock and you can feel the height. It's rather exhilarating to be standing on wrought iron that's swaying from the mountain winds. Love this place and have come here regularly since I was a kid in the 90s. It's crazy how much this place is tied to my feeling of being in Colorado.

The drive to Bishops Castle was beautiful, and there was parking in front of the castle. There is a quaint gift shop with lovely options. The castle accepts cash donations, and there is some construction happening, but that doesn't interfere with exploring the castle. The architecture is unique, and I adore the stained glass windows. Some steps were broken, and you must be careful navigating throughout.

Very unique structure! Enter at your own risk. I admired the castle mostly from the ground and as far as the 2nd interior level. My husband was brave enough to go out on the metal portion which I was not. We were lucky enough to meet Mr. Bishop himself! Very friendly man and answered all of the questions we asked. This castle has been a life long work of art for him. He stopped working on the castle itself roughly 17yrs ago I believe he said but began working on the fence/entry way into the property at that time. It really is amazing to see and realize how much work it has taken to build such a structure. Definitely worth the drive off the beaten path to see! The drive up to it is very scenic as well! He does not charge a fee but accepts donations instead. I do suggest reading the signs he has posted before entering the property.

Bit of a drive to get to, which was lovely scenery. Right now the sign said gift shop was burned down and there is construction all around so enter at your own risk. Other than that the view from up top is great! Nice craftsmanship!

This place is fΩ©£ing awesome! Climb at your own risk of course. Be nice you the gift store and snack bar ladies. If you see a tiny old cowboy man with a huge hat, tell him thank you, for being so amazing. Sign the books and leave a donation.
