Pine River Lodge - Vallecito Lake

As this was my first cabin experience, I didn't know what to expect. I selected this property because of the views and proximity to the lake, and even those reasons were made with fingers crossed the photos were real. And was I ever blown away! Every photo of the property is REAL! Cabin 17 has an unobstructed view of the lake with the exception beautiful pine tree that provided shade over the balcony. The interior of the cabin was clean, quaint, and again EXACTLY as it shows in the photos. The kitchen is well stocked with everything one might need to cook (and we are foodies, so having everything we needed to prepare pasta, seafood, desserts, etc. was important). Microwave, coffee maker, 4 burner stove with oven, and refrigerator are standard. There is a charcoal grill, but bring charcoal and lighter fluid. There is Direct TV service, but the TV is more of a monitor, so don't expect the home theater experience. Internet was strong from this location, though I was told it would be spotty in other areas. The bathroom looked recently remodeled, water pressure strong, and very clean. I had one of the most restful sleeps on the queen size bed and the linens were exceptionally soft! On one particularly cold night during our 4 stay, we used the fire pit in between the two cabins, drank some whiskey, and tried to identify as many stars as we could! The owners were welcoming, accommodating, and understanding, especially when we locked ourselves out of the cabin at 7pm. Just got all the feels from this woman-owned and operated lodge. Honestly could go on and on, but I worry that this place will get too popular and we won't be able to get another reservation.

New owners. See recent reviews since they took over. Never ended up booking because customer service was awful and not what it use to be when the sisters were running it!

To begin with, none of the staff were in compliance with the state law of mandatory masks in their public spaces ( office, laundry room etc). We stayed in cabin 26, there were no essentials, HVAC system was not working and I doubt the level of seriousness about sanitizing their cabins thoroughly. I did not feel confident during these weird times.

Excellent place that stay. The owners were great and the entire area was just perfect.

This place was amazing! The cabin was adorable and fully stocked with all the kitchen utensils we needed. Beautiful area and the staff were all friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back!
