Dunellen Station

After living in Dunellen for the past year I need to update my observation regarding the trains. For whatever reason, the trains whistles blow for an inordinate amount of time. When I first moved here I thought it was only betwwen 10pm & 11 pm. But, since then, I have also been awakened at 3am & 4am. I’m at the point where I have to sleep downstairs so I am not disturbed. I live about a mile from the station and it’s crazy how far and long the sound travels. Funny thing is, I work in another town right across the street from the train station and the trains do not blow the whistles a fraction as long as they do in Dunellen. I would love to know why this is. Better yet, I would just love for it to stop.

Pretty nice old train station for me as a railfan.

The station door is closed most of the time. We have to stand out in the cold, there is not even a restroom for customers to use. That is why you have a lot of urine on the floor. I am there now and am standing in the cold.

I commute from here a few days a week. I can't figure out why this station is not handicapped accessible though seeing how the express trains run from/to here.nnFuthermore, people would like to utilize the waiting area but there has been an increase in the homeless and it always has a strong urine smell.
