Fernwood Apartments

Lived here for over a decade. Built in the 50's and the last major thing they did was put in new windows in 2014. Most apartments have moisture issues like mold and moist air because the AC exhaust is never cleaned and there's no ventilation in the bathroom. Galley kitchen is small, but workable. Can get cable internet, walls are very thick, but there is usually a draft from the door. Nice neighborhood, and in walking distance to a grocery, pharmacy, liquor store, and several restaurants. Management is terrible. We moved after they changed management to some hell-person who will not negotiate with you for anything. Think about that. We lived here for 11 years and moved primarily because of management changes.

Disclosed our ESA we have 2 dogs. The Older lady at the office told us to get out when we tried to plead our case. They said we were not picking up after our dogs when we go out with bags every day to pick them up. Ask the person who cleaned out the pet waste bin, 3/4 of those colored bags were ours. But you want to kick us out of your office for trying to address and issue that inst even ours and threaten to charge us? I think not. Also got snotty about not wearing a mask when she herself didnt have one. I dont appreciate being told to get out and shouting out over and over when trying to address and issue civilly at first. Nothing but hostile. I told her i knew the fair housing act to which she replied i know how to do my job. Obviously not if you dont even know your own federal rules. I will not be charged for something that isnt our fault and I will not have me or my wife be disrespected. I hope the lady in the office sees this and i also hope your boss sees this. In case you try to get smart and delete i have this saved so dont try to save your reputation, obviously that doesnt matter to you because you treat people like garbage and act like an old hag.

Not much parking. Good location. Townhouses seemed cramped. We were moving my stepdaughter and her family back to Missouri. Lots of stairs, up and down, and the kids had no plan and were disorganized and slow.

READ THIS REVIEW IT WILL SAVE YOU FROM HELL!!! Here is why you should not rent here! There is no insulation in the floors or walls or ceilings for that matter... no seriously there is not any which makes your utility bills soar. The walls are literally paper thin so when cars drive by on the road it sounds like they are coming through your living space. The floors are buckling up and forming huge humps to the point my couch is a teeter totter. The paint just chips away form the walls and forms a white powder on everything that might rub up against it. The doors have huge gaps between the frame and the door which lets in bugs and once again utility goes up because of drafts. There is no ventilation in the bathroom which means if your not cleaning your ceilings and walls at least three times a week you will have a huge mold problem. The kitchen is seriously the size of a cheap walk in closet- and there is no way two people can really be in there at one time. The tub and bathroom sink is always dripping and no matter how hard you turn the knobs it wont stop. The office staff lies and will tell you anything you want to hear just to get you out of the office and never follows through with anything they tell you. Trying to get anything fixed in this dump takes you basically having to threaten to call the city on them. Maintenance is a joke! Wait did I say maintenance... what maintenance? Good luck getting anything fixed. My floors in my apartment literally rotted out and fell through and they did not compensate me for my losses and I had to move my stuff myself to the new apartment they stuck me in... wait did I say new... I meant to say an apartment with floors kind of not rotten. No matter what you do there is always the smell of mildew and mold no matter how much you clean or use air freshener! The rent goes up all the time for no reason and trust me this place is NOT worth at all what they ask you to pay! My rent was $425.00 when I moved in and even after the floor incident they raised my rent even though they promised me that I would be guaranteed that rate for the remainder of me living here! This place is a scam! No matter how much landscaping they do... you can't cover up ghetto! If you ever heard of Elmwood Court... your better off with them and that is not saying much cause that place is a dump as well. Do yourself a favor and seek out better living arrangements because trust me... I totally forgot to mention that everywhere you walk you are probably going to step in some animal feces because they do not enforce any policies around here unless it benefits them so they can rip you off... THIS PLACE IS A TRAP!!!
