There is no museum like it! The owner of the museum, Dr. Seth Hawkins greets you at the door and for the next few hours he shares interesting facts and observations about his varied collections while giving a tour of the house. He is generous with his time, has a great sense of humor and as we learned on the tour, is “correct handed”. We enjoyed every minute.
My husband and I parked in front of this place, and within seconds the proprietor was verbally attacking us and accusing us of taking up two parking spots. While I tried to get my young daughter out of her car seat, my husband struggled to explain that we were parked in accordance with St. Paul parking regulations and we didn’t want to pull forward as he instructed and risk getting a ticket. As he was berating us, a passerby walked in front of the house with his dog and said, “he does this to everyone.” We finally walked away, with the owner still screaming after us. For all he knew, we could have been there to visit his museum! The place looks awesome and there’s clearly a lot of pride that went into it, but you couldn’t pay me to spend time in any house with that man. The whole experience scared my daughter and ruined our morning.
