Came on Sunday of labor day weekend and there was literally one other car. Lovely little place to stop and let my pups stretch their legs. The observatory was closed so I'm assuming that's why it was so empty. Great beach and fishing dock. Bathroom facilities were A+.

Went there for the Perseids (witnessed a fireball that night haha). Considering it was about 1 hr drive from the downtown area, this was a good place to see stars and the milky way. See pictures from my phone below (really wish I had a budget for a DSLR camera and a tripod then...). Bathroom were closed during my camping at night.nnObservatory were closed when I got there. Beach was nice and the lake was beautiful under the stars. You might also hear fish jumped out of water and birds singing and flying around.nnFYI, there are some gas stations nearby and they all have 24 hr opening stores for you snacks, drinks and restroom needs.

Definitely an awesome place to go if you have any interest in space, the planets, or stars. I came here a few years ago and was able to see Jupiter through one of the telescopes. It was an awesome experience and I would love to come back.

Fantastic place for fun and education.nVolunteers were on hand to assist with tour of the place; celestial views; and to answer questions.nGreat atmoshere.nThe only place I've visited in many years where kids and adults weren't stuck to cellphones.nKudos to parents for bringing young kids. It was monderful to hear couple young kids talking in terms of 'gravitational waves', 'bending of Lightwave ', and 'black holes'.nGo...and take your kids.
