Walked into the visitors center to get a map and ask a few questions, exactly what it’s for, and when we asked the clerk a question, he slapped a sheet of paper on the desk without a word and just left it there. Then I forgot to put my mask back on after I took it off for a second, and the clerk asked a relative very rudely “does he have a mask!?” My relatives do not respond for me, if you want to ask me a question or tell me to put my mask back on, say it to me, I was standing right there. Very disappointed. I’m from southwest Michigan and was hoping I would see the hospitality I’m used to back home in my own state.
Nice visitors center, stopped in for a map of the area for our group to walk around the island without getting lost. Was surprised that you have to pay for a map ($2), though it was not expensive. Staff were all friendly and they have restrooms within.
They will show you parts of the Island that get missed by most persons staying here. They helped set up a carriage for us to tour the parts for Islanders themselves. Very good to share carriages as to lower your costs and meet other people also.
Its a decent get away and definitely fun to visit with ur partner! Loved the tandem bikes! Liked the concept of no automobiles on the island!nFudge, who doesn't love fudge!!
Check the center for place to visit when your in the island. Informative.
