Warm and cosy in the winter night. The fare to Chicago is $49 and the timing is okay. Easy in and out, plus lots of reading can be done instead of driving.

Get there 30 minutes early, if that. You literally just sit there and they checked my tickets in the train once we were already moving. It was clean and warm and it had bathrooms available. If anything the 30 minutes before are for piece of mind since they (the amtrak train people) are very punctual. This is also a historical site which is cool.

Easy, free parking. Easy on and off. Quaint small town feel to it, harkening back to a day when everyone traveled by train. Kids can climb on one if three cabooses also.
