Stellar department with well trained experienced officers. Community policing is their Maine focus. In other words they know who everyone is, what they are about and they try to be proactive. Small town with a professional department that rivals most larger towns.

Police #333 of Hallowell ticketed a dozen cars for Parking on the side of the road at Vaughn woods, just as they have for many years. The only sign stating that parking was not allowed there was 50’ ahead 12’ High and facing the wrong way. No one who parked there would possibly have been able to see the sign. The officer was ticketing people as they were walking back to their cars to move them.nIt is the police departments job to protect humanity not harass them. At the very least they should give warnings for first offense, especially since people were walking back to move their cars AND COULDNT POSSIBILY SEE THE SIGN. If it truly is a safety hazard to park there then they should put VISIBLE signs up.nnOn another occasion, I witnessed a Hallowell Police officer ticket a mother who had taken her children to the Hallowell spring. She was the only person parked in the large parking lot and was ticketed because she was supposed park a mile away and walk with her children to the water because she wasn’t a resident. Even though no residents were there.nIf the police department is so bored and broke that they are constantly UNJUSTLY ticketing people than SOMETHING IS WRONG.

It's ashame how Caleb Fortin can work to become a policeman but he will bully you when it's known that you have had a death in your family yeterday and he tell's you that you have a personal problem when you weren't even speaking to him he just over heard. It's ashame what this world's safety is becoming. So sad.
