Holiday Inn Express Metropolis

My go to place whenever I'm in town.

The room was awesome, huge clean bed, huge shower with full size body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. Also very impressive that the hair dryer is not chained to the wall like other places do. The staff was very friendly and the food was really good and very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend to anyone traveling through.

This hotel is fine for a night but needs a good cleaning. The breakfast was good and they have a good set up for covid precautions. The beds were comfortable. Just dirty in my opinion.

The staff was friendly when checking in and they still had a breakfast of sorts (prepped brown bags with muffins, OJ, granola bar and oatmeal cup). That is the only reason this place gets 2 stars. The entire hotel smelled musty. The room especially. Our curtains had holes in them and we were on the ground floor facing the front parking lot.....Had small black bugs in the room. Not sure what they were. The fridge had 1 shelf in it, the rest were taken out. They did give us a second set of towels when we checked in. We were informed all rooms are set for one towel unless checking more people. This is a pet friendly hotel but they do not allow dogs to come in from the front door or through the lobby. You have to come in through the side door, where no one is parked and it feels sketchy. Not only that the card reader wasn't working so I had to call the front desk to let them know, front desk said he'd be right there. He took a really long time to come. Called my mom to come open the door for me from the side door. It seems dogs are only allowed in the rooms on the first floor which is ok and we were right by the door. Seems like the front desk forgot about me, because the man came by to help another person and didn't even look at the door to see if someone was still outside. I had to go and tell him the card reader is broken and he said he'd have maintenance look at it in the morning. If you're going to force people to come in from the sides, maybe make sure they can come in through there. The frame of the bed was ancient and creaked with the slightest movement. I slept on the pullout which was fine, but mom felt the frame was going to break on the bed from all the creaking and felt uncomfortable with it. It's sad when the pullout couch is better maintained then the actual bed. Honestly would not recommend it unless you're in a pinch. Paid more money to be at Holiday Inn instead of Quality Inn (also pet friendly) but ended up getting not that great a stay.

This hotel was absolutely disgusting. We stayed one night, given a room that was infested with bugs. Staff gave us a new room, which had not been cleaned at all and still had trash and towels laying around. Went to request a THIRD room, which also had bugs in it. It was also clear that none of the counters in the rooms had been cleaned or wiped down, dead bugs littered the hallways and trash all over outside, which is surprising given covid and that most places are doing extra cleaning for safety. This place is definitely not! Some staff also were not wearing masks, and the staff member serving breakfast to guests in the morning was coughing repeatedly, and clearly working while sick. This Holiday Inn Express was worst than a budget roadside motel, which is really surprising. Clearly this one is run very different than most others. Saw a lot of similar problem reviews when I looked into it more after my stay.
