I bring my toddler here when we need an indoor activity outside of our home. We enjoy looking at the variety of art they have on display. I can't wait for her to be able to try out the kid's area when it is safe.
The art is always brilliant. The atmosphere is lovely. The air conditioning is a god-send. Well done.
Me and my boyfriend decided to go today, on a Sunday. There were maybe 5 or 6 other visitors, besides us scattered throughout. The whole experience was ruined by the guards who were unfriendly from the beginning. Not that their jobs are to greet visitors or anything, they never smiled or greeted us and was told twice by a male guard with hair that we were being recorded. We pulled our masks down below our lips for a picture, to show our faces and smiles. We were totally aware of the mask requirement but it was truly for a quick picture and there was no other visitor within 20-30 feet each time. The first time he made us aware, he told us we were being recorded and would have to leace if we couldnt keep them on. Him advising us of this is totally fine and not the issue, it's the way in which he relayed the message. Unfriendly and in a tone as if we had annoyed him and he was speaking to kids. After that, we were followed the entire remainder of the time we there by the other 2 guards. So I asked for the rules on what We could and could not do.She then told us the lady at the front door should have made us aware. The point is we were made uncomfortable the entire time, then followed which are the very things we have to put up with other places simply for being black. And these were black guards. Like really? Not once or twice, but 3 times. I thought it was cool and more amazing it was free and had just recommended my sister bring her family for a weekend outing, but never would I want to visit again if I had to be followed and deal with those security again!
A excellent museum in downtown Birmingham with smooth road parking, loose access, and numerous distinct pieces of artwork from a wide range of time intervals. cherished the variety in eu, Asian, and African art work. I desire they had paintings from Latin the usa, however in reality there was manner more art than I to begin with predicted!
Incredible collection. Very impressed, especially for a museum that charges no admission. Definitely a must-visit!
