The Elmore County Historical Society and Museum was an eye-opening visit for my family and myself. I never knew about the artifacts they had on-site. I was impressed with the staff too. They were very knowledgeable docents and were virtual walking databases of information. I was also not away that there were huge quartz crystals in the Coosa River. They are on display there and are absolutely beautiful and quite possibly the biggest formation I have seen. I would put this on the list of sites to see in Elmore County and while you are there make sure and ask about the ghosts in the basement.
