Very pretty nature wise... nostalgic items were a little hard to find. Since the museum was closed due to covid 19 we walked around a little and took in the sites. It was still worth the trip.

The memorial park is absolutely fantastic. A great piece of history. The old buildings and history behind them are fascinating. The cemetery is beautiful and well kept.nnThe museum however was a disappointment. If you go, take cash. Their card machine could not read either of the two cards my man and I had available, so we were unable to even see the museum. The guy behind the counter was friendly enough and apologetic about the machine.. The state really needs to update the internet connection for the machine.

While traveling on this Memorial Day, I passed a huge flag. Pulled over to Google the meaning and reason behind it flying to beautifully. Boom there it was! Don't know how you would ever know it's there and Even though due to Covid 19 the museum was closed, the whole park is beautiful. Very peaceful and for me informational. I enjoy reading the plaques and learning what took place in the same spot I'm standing so many years ago. Even some actual original structural pieces to observe. Very nice memorial for the CSA! Thanks to each and every one of you men and women!

We really enjoyed walking the nature path with our granddaughter. Did you know they do reenactments? Some just show life in the barracks, etc. Others do the war. Lots of educational opportunities. We'll be going back.

For anyone interested in the history of Alabama and the War Between the States I highly recommend a visit to Confederate Memorial Park. From the increasing quality of the improving restoration of the original site, to the history museum and the well-documented exhibits, and the small but well-rounded and thorough library, Confederate Memorial Park does an excellent job of presenting as full a view of this portion of Alabama's history as possible.
