The hometown I grew up in is smaller both in the size of area & numbers of people than Fairmont. Also, growing up our police department only had 2 officers, the chief & a deputy. And no it wasn't Mayberry, it was in the Poconos. I was totally stunned to see a sign on the Fairmont PD doors on Martin Luther King Jr day declaring that they were CLOSED FOR THE HOLIDAY! That sums up the chance of getting help from the police for anything unless you are lying dead in the road.

Police in Fairmont are relatively friendly and helpful. They are pretty quick at helping people who come to their secretary office needing fingerprints done, etc.
