Quality Inn & Suites Kearneysville - Martinsburg

I lived there for 8 months. Me being from texas I want a good friendly atmosphere.nThis place by far was one if not the best place I have stayed in 20 yrs. hell the where even nice enough to come get me from the bar down the road. Truly a pleasure staying here and some of the finest people I’ve ever met out of state.nnWe made life long friends with the front staff and the owner.

The price is OK and the location is convenient for appointments at the VA hospital. This makes me believe that their captive audience of veterans leads them to various lacks of concern. The first thing I noticed is that the two staff members there in the evening were not wearing masks during a pandemic. They didn't even try to fake it by wearing them on their chins or around their necks. I thought it might have just been them, but the next staff member I encountered was also not wearing one. I guess that's just not enforced at all by management.nnThe room itself was clean for the most part. The shower worked well. The air conditioning got nice and cool.nnThe lighting was really dim for some reason and the bathroom fan sounded so bad that I opted to avoid using it while showering. One of the windows was covered in some type of matter that I assume was on the outside. I was barely able to see through the window.nnI was told the breakfast was a hot breakfast in a bag with my choice of a pastry. When I asked for breakfast in the morning, the staff member told me that it was a frozen sandwich. I asked to just get a pastry and the choice of pastry was whether I wanted to eat one or not. The coffee was very hot, but had no sleeves to protect my hand from the heat. I had to sit it on the floor for a moment to avoid burning my fingers. Perhaps these issues are less persistent in non-pandemic times. Who knows?

The Hotel is nice. Clean. BUT. In order to get inside you have to walk through a HAZE of cigarette smoke as both guests AND workers are smoking close to the entrance. It is annoying when you have to walk into your workplace with the scent of cigarettes on your clothing and all you did was walk outside.

How was it poor? Let me count the ways..n1. Door- my husband had to use brute force to open and shut. If I were in the room alone, I could not have escaped in case of emergency.n2. Loose drywall dust on floor behind door.n3. Opened coffee courtesy packets. No covid risk here. Oh and signs insisting guests wear masks to enter, yet staff, front desk clerks wore none.n4. Missing tiles in shower. no grab bar or anything to hold on to assist you to get in ornout.n5.tubtrapnsitting outside of tub.nWould not recommend .

This used to be our go-to hotel in this area (especially for V.A. appointments). Hadn't been there in 2 years. It has really gone downhill in that time. Staff was still very nice.
