This is one of the only All-Youth fairs around. Don’t go expecting A-list entertainment or state-fair level rides and attractions. Here, you’ll see 4-H, scout, and FFA students giving demonstrations, showing their animals, and displaying their projects they’d been working on for the past year. It’s all about supporting the exhibitors and these worthy organizations. There are a few food stands (we like the 4H food stand and Jill’s Mobile Kitchen), tractor pulls, etc. for all to enjoy.
The grounds were a nice country style picnic area. While there was but one Men and one Woman's room, for a limited group it was adequate. Food? Like other similar grounds you're on your own. Given the bluegrass concert in progress, we we're lucky enough to have a couple of food stands to pick from. Trash? The single can in the Men's room was OK. There was anther available some quarter mile a away, but I was too lazy to pack my garbage out.
The fair has really gone down over the years. Sad to see. One problem is they now charge to get in during the day when there are no rides or games. When I was a kid this was free. I spent over 100 dollars in the evening earlier in the week with my kids. They wanted to see the animals one last time so we went today at 2 pm. They charge the same as it was in the evening. Ridiculous. Better rethink this BCYF.
Demo derby was fun but the place was so dang busy it wasn't even worth buying the ride pass. Need to add more vendors and rides to spread the people out. Everything was so dusty due to lack of rain.
Great selection of rides (with short lines) & food. Better than Jefferson Co Fair.
