Pretty cool place to visit.

It could only happen in Oklahoma. Rich in history from our state's territory days and our community's at home contribution during WWII. The gates are open daily to explore the outside of barracks, officer's quarters, mess hall, munitions battery and a chapel with guided tours through the inside at various times of the year. There is also a deeply solemn cemetery that is the resting place of servicemen, their families, civilian employees, Native American scouts, and WWII German & Italian POWs. Truly unique to any other place on the planet.

We got there too late to go inside the facilities, but walking around the beautifully maintained fort and grounds gave a true sense of the fortitude required by those soldiers and settlers who came here so long ago.

This is one of my favorite places to stop by when I visit Oklahoma City. There is a lot of history here and the buildings are beautifully preserved. It's right on historic Route 66 and less than a mile off of I-40 so it could be more convenient to find. Check out the monthly tours and haunted tours close to Halloween!

One of Oklahomas best preserved Forts. A remount station that was on the way to any troop of soldiers going north, south, east or west. Lots to see here. If you have time for the hunted ghost tour while at Fort Reno. It is well worth the walking tour at night and usually doesn't disappoint for a little hair raising experience. Make sure you visit the post cemetary. Tell O'l We can Wa I said hello. (GREAT STORY) You'll enjoy Ft. Reno. I go there often. They also have a Cavalry Museum there as well. Home of the 9th and 10th Cav. Buffalo Soldiers.
