Our family of six really loved this little place. Often times, historical villages are made great by their interpreters, and this one was no exception. I wish we’d gotten his name, but he is a recent grad of Appalachian State is now working on his graduate degree in Public History and his passion is clear. I just love it when people find their vocations and live them. This guy is so knowledgeable. I love history and I happen to teach college, and I learned quite a bit from his tour. I highly recommend making a visit here, and then maybe pop over to another local place, maybe Blowing Rock, for a snack or lunch, and hike some trails. Makes for a great day.

Great experience. The guide was very informative and gave many interesting historical details regarding the early settlers who inhabited this area. Highly recommended.

Decent little living history museum; sometimes there are re-enacters and demonstrations of old time living. Also come here early on weekends (Saturday) May-October for the best farmers' market around.

Our tour was very great and the guide was extremely knowledgeable, he answered every question we had and was enthusiastic. The cabins are all very cool and we got to take a step back in time, it was nice imagining how life was and hearing the stories of the battles as well. Very much recommended.

Really enjoyed the tour. Very educational and the cabins are neat. We went during covid so it wasn't as full of activity, but still worth going.
