Great place for a day trip!! We came to visit the Indian Museum with the Boy Scout Troop 11 out of Goldsboro, NC. We are studying Indian Lore and thought it would be a great place to get started. The Indian section of Museum is excellent. It's a small section in the front of the building. There are artifacts from all around the country to see here. Some of the artifacts are very rare and difficult to see anywhere else. The museum is very carefully curated. There is a phone tour you can take while walking around where you call a number and a guided tour will tell you information about various items as you walk through. The most impressive item to me was the authentic 300 year old dug out canoe they recovered from a swamp and put in the museum. I am only giving four stars on the rating though because while there was a museum attendant on staff, he was not very helpful or attentive while we were there so we were pretty much on our own. So be prepared to look a lot of stuff up on your own or use that phone tour I was just talking about.nnThe museum has bathrooms, (but they need to be cleaned well, another reason for the four star rating), and is well air conditioned. Everything is well spaced out and easy to walk through. Our troop didn't visit the rest of the museum, but from what I saw it looked impressive. We took the opportunity to visit the John Blue house across the street and if come here to visit, you should too!

Great to keep these historical buildings there.
