I can't wait to visit the museum! I went to the website for 1st time and loved everything I saw. I especially enjoyed the quilting and canning. I really enjoyed Victory Garden with Mckenzie!!

I loved this museum, it was like visiting with my grandmother. It is small but well done. The volunteers are fantastic and really care about preserving the history of women in Appalachia area. Take time to read the posters and find out about the women who dedicated their lives to serving others. This museum is filled with memories but is also a good teaching tool for younger generations.

Love the 1908 farmhouse that now holds exhibits of women who helped form the mountain region of western NC and beyond. The all volunteer Appalachian Women’s Museum saved the house from extinction and has a goal to save stories and artifacts of everyday women leading extraordinary lives. They’re always needing volunteers to help with creating displays and managing a growing visitor destination. Get involved in this rewarding movement.

This museum is full of interesting artifacts and local history. It also is run by the best kinds of people! Highly recommended to attend during their music festival for good ol' mountain music and food.

Beautifully restored and informative museum! When I visited, the volunteer told me all about the women who originally lived in the house and about various other Appalachian women that history books often leave out. The museum has rooms dedicated to different groups of women like nurses, teachers, Cherokee women, and political leaders. The museum also partners with students in a Western Carolina University history class to create the exhibits. Absolutely worth a stop if you’re in town on a Saturday.
