Darren, the docent, welcomed us and guided us through the museum so that we would get the most out of the curated exhibits and experiences. He not only showed us, he involved us! In the last gallery we read the speech together helping us to commit to our continued work as educators and and civil rights advocates. He added the personal and current connection to the history of the civil rights movement. What a place! What an inspiring way to learn history, museum design, and interactive education. This museum is a must-do for all!
Really awesome! If you're in greensboro this is a must. I wish we could take pics inside but I guess licensing issues prevent that. Many moving exhibits and a reminder of how long of a battle it's been (and continues to be) to achieve equal rights.nnI appreciated talking with John and the gentleman in the store as well! Good luck achieving world heritage status!
We had an excellent visit today. We brought our young children and they accommodated us by showing us an age-appropriate video. They have done an excellent job preserving the lunch counter and many other pieces of civil rights history. I’m grateful that this next generation will continue to push for a better world.
It is incredible to step into history. It isn’t even a re-creation but literally history in front of you. The front desk host was very helpful and passionate about the stories in the museum! If you are ever in Greensboro, North Carolina, take the time to go here
Mr. Darren does a great job at introducing the purpose and events of the museum. He obviously is very proud and has a real live for the museum and its efforts to explain the civil rights history. I enjoyed this tour very much!
