After eleven years in Ashe County I finally dropped by and wondered how I missed this NC mountain treasure. The museum is fantastic with wonderful exhibits on native American culture and artifacts, esrly Appalachian settlers, an amazing WWI room, a working VA Creeper model railroad layout and much moore. The gift shop had resources on Ashe County and the High Country I have found no where else. Finally, the volunteer who toured me around was a living treasure. Be sure to drop by and give yourself around an hour.

Love this place, very nice staff that talk to you like family. The museum itself is really cool! I enjoyed the Ore Knob Mine exhibit the most, they even had a detailed model of the mine and artifacts from the mine. The gift shop is huge and I even got a book about the Ore Knob Mine that was written by a local author. Highly recommend to people visiting or who have recently moved here and want to know more of the town's history.

Visitors have the opportunity to learn the history of Ashe County. Displays are very informative.

I recently had the privilege to go to the Ashe Museum and was amazed at the awesome displays and treasure trove of interesting books and artifacts. The staff were very courteous and helpful. My visit was for business purposes and brief but I certainly plan to return when I have more time to spend. I could spend many delightful hours there walking through the past!
