For I long as I can remember the Nanih Waiya Mound has been a icon in my life, my grandparents lived not very far from it and seeing it meant we were there. We went to the caves as well, and we were taught respect for their way of life and that it was a burial mound. So, it is always with the fondest, happiest thoughts that I remember this place in Mississippi the place of the Choctaw.....
Always loves to come to my Choctaw Heritage home...
I'm glad I took the time to visit this place.
It's part of our history
This wouldn't look like much to most people, just a big hill in the middle of no where, but to a Choctaw tribal member it is so much more than that. It is our creation story it is a Spiritual visit for a lot of us and simply history to some, either way, just think due to the invasive arrogant white person we almost lost it completely...
