Great place to visit with the kids any day of the week it’s relatively slow and quiet on weekdays. I’ve only had one unfavorable visit for 2 reasons and that was today.nnReason #1: Human error on my part and misinformation from hostess. I arrived at the gate and paid for 1 adult and 2 kids tickets, military discount was asked for and not accepted. I found this surprising because inside admissions has always honored it.nnReason #2: I didn’t intend to come to this museum I got it confused with the agricultural museum I explained this to inside admissions and I figure I wouldn’t get a refund, fair enough. The other museum was closing at 2, I wanted to ensure I’d be able yo attend both since I had already paid admission. The desk clerk told me I could return that day so I left. I came back 2 hours later after leaving the other museum and presented my receipt to gate admissions. I told her initially I had the wrong museum and I wanted to come back to use my tickets. She said “I wish you told me that when you left.” Took my receipt and threw it in the trash, it’s my lucky day!nnSolution: I’m looking for a re-entry policy to justify why inside admissions would tell me it was okay to return and I’d also like to know for the record, do you honor military discount?
I have been to Jackson plenty of times in my 40 years on earth and never heard or visited the Natural Science Museum. This is truly a hidden gem for $6 or less per person. This is a great place to go as a family, on a date, or by yourself. My daughter and I enjoyed it. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable about different mammals and exhibits. I really appreciate how staff took time to educate my daughter about the different mammals and answered all of her 5 year old questions. There is also a nature trail that would be perfect for anyone especially girl scouts. It is a smaller Natural Science Museum if u have ever been to the one in Houston. This is well worth the cost of Admission. They are taking the necessary Covid precautions. Please check it out. This Louisiana girl is definitely coming back.
What I expected and more! The aquariums were lovely. I loved all the turtles. It’s a great place for kids, families, and couples who want to do something different for date days! They had trails you could walk through with amazing outside scenery which was romantic and adventurous! The coolest thing here was the two headed snake. That was something I’ve never seen before. I learned a lot here!
I'm biased as I am a volunteer at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, but I interact with lots of visitors of all ages from all over. The museum's exhibits and activities engage everyone but especially young children and grandparents. The nature trail and gift shop attract nearly everyone.
We spent about 2.5 hours going through the exhibits. We loved how much we learned about Mississippi’s ecosystem and history. Most of the exhibits are aimed towards children but we still really enjoyed ourselves.
