It's a beautiful retreat and the parking is still free! You can stroll the boardwalk and there you may find nature' suprises like wild pears, plenty of birdlife, depleted iron ore and perhaps gold. Visitors are advised to leave the mining equipment at home and bring mosquito nets instead. Enjoy this fantastic gift!
Gorgeous wetlands and well maintained trails. I spent three hours there and didn't even go on the board walk. I can't wait to go back and explore more. It was well worth the drive for me.
I've visited this park twice now. The first time is was super super buggy. So buggy that we left. I visited again 3 weeks ago and it was much better. I appreciate the boards put down to help with the mushy trails in places. Some of the trail is very overgrown through. Still a nice trail and it connects to Leesylvania State Park via the Potomac Heritage NST.
The trail bridges are still not complete, so going out after a heavy rain is a bad idea. Otherwise it was very nice.
Amazing place for birdwatching! Quiet nature trails.
