I lived here in 1985/1986 while teaching at McDonough HS. The owner then was Joseph Vallario, a prominent lawyer and Maryland State Senator from Upper Marlboro. Mr. Vallario May still be the owner I’m not sure. The house was not heated - there was a large fireplace in the living room that provided the only heat. There were definitely spirits living with me but none were at all frightening. In the Spring and Fall in particular the house seemed to take on its own personality. I might glance at it and see a pastoral scene, look down, and look up to see the house in a darker unwelcome light. The house had its own way. But I never felt threatened. A lot of souls seemed to dwell peacefully there. I miss Rich Hill. Thirty years later i still dream about it. Thanks for letting me share my experience living there. Joe

This is a stop on the Maryland Harriet Tubman Scenic Byway. It’s a quick “hop out and read the sign” stop. It is unmanned and you cannot go inside, but the sign is informative and it’s a pretty spot.

A hidden gem. Although the house is closed, in the process of reconstruction the surroundings are well maintained. A well explained story.
