The size is deceptive; once you're inside, you start to realize that it is much larger than what you could see from the road. Very impressive; dioramas are very well done. The volunteer staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The souvenir shop has a surprisingly varied selection of plastic models, many of which are not found in the usual hobbyist shop.

A hidden gem of a museum en route between Virginia and Maryland. Definitely worth a stop for an hour or two for any military history buffs. Surprisingly large with artifacts and information on just about every war in American history.

The love and care of the founders and volunteers is so obvious. With a collection spanning from WWI to the current War on Terrorism, there's something for everyone here. Stop by and spend a few minutes or a few hours, it's all free.

Today I took a group of 7 teenagers, 8th-10th graders ,to visit. It was a shot in the dark at finding something they would enjoy. They LOVED it. Doug the man at the front desk who is also a veteran who served in the Marines, met us and gave a tour of the rooms covering all the wars and conflicts our nation has been in over the years. He is a genuine and kind man, giving us stories that all my students enjoyed. His stories made the kids stand and listen in wonder.nnThere is so much to look at there and we could have spent a few hours reading and actually touching some of the actual items on exhibit.nPlease consider going and enjoying this free treasure of history.
