This site asks some questions that you don't usually hear about the flight of John Wilkes Booth and if you tend to conspiracy theories you'll enjoy the perspective. Entertaining tour, not hard getting around, some interesting outbuildings as well. Time we'll spent.

This is another historic treasure on the John Wilkes Boothe escape tour and this was very interesting. The historic guides know their history and attempt to.convince that the Mudd family did not know what happened or that their guest John Wilkes Boothe was the one who shot the president. Very, very interesting!!!ud83dude04ud83dude03

The House-Museum is wonderfully restored and moments in history come Alive! The house is decorated every Christmas featuring a delightful collection of nut-crackers.

Couldn't stay for the tour but grabbed info.. Plan on going back soon for a tour! Volunteer staff couldn't have been nicer.. Gave me all sorts of info about other related venues and kindly let me use the bathroom! Looks like a great find!

Unfortunately, this place wasn't as cool as I thought it would be. It had a lot of potential, but fell quite short. I was expecting that there would be a guided tour through the house with someone telling us about Dr. Mudd, John Wilkes-Boothe, and the events that brought them together. Instead, it was a disorganized, self-guided tour through the house. Docents in each room talked about each room and struggled to talk over another docent in another room. If you were lucky enough to get to a room when the docent began his or her talk, you may learn something, but there were a ton of people there and my sister and I only got to one room where we caught the docent at the beginning of a talk. There was even one docent talking to someone she knew rather than discussing Dr. Mudd. I will say though, that this place COULD be great. Most of the items in the house belonged to Dr. Mudd or the family because the house has been in the family for generations. If they did a tour where a docent guides a group through each room and discussed the history of Dr. Mudd and the civil war, it could be great. But just telling people to go through the house and catch tidbits of what docents say is not the way to go. My sister and I were pretty disappointed. We absolutely love history and we drove over an hour to get there. We were there for about 20 minutes and learned nothing. Maybe we caught them on an off day? When I read the website, it said there were guided tours, but this was absolutely not the case when we were there. It was all self-guided, which in my opinion, doesn't allow you to learn.
