I was pleasantly surprised as to how enjoyable our visit to the Plantation was. I took my 3 teenagers, my husband and my parents-all of whom loved it. Our tour guide Anne was fantastic! We loved hearing the stories and the history.
I wanted to like this plantation more. In my opinion, I wouldn’t recommend this plantation unless they have been to some of the others first.nnFirst, the plantation itself is gorgeous. The inside has some unique aspects to it that make it very cool to see! The blue is very eye-catching on the outside. Unfortunately, the house is right on the street so getting a pic of the front is just about impossible without going around the fence and crossing the street. Back of the house pics are nice, though.nnI felt the need to dock two stars for the tour. First, it’s only if the big house and not anything about the slavery area. Second, our tour guide was dressed in sweats, a hoodie, and flip-flops with socks. I thought they were a freshman in college who just showed up to class late. I don’t think guides need to dress to the period as some plantations do, but just casual dress would make a world of difference in professionalism. Lastly, far too many people were on our tour. Many of the times, people had to stand in other rooms because not everyone could fit where the tour guide was. Small things like this make a massive difference in the quality of the experience!nnOverall, still a good experience. Not as good as others I’ve had, and I wouldn’t recommend this to folks who are looking to go to their first plantation, but it was still an enjoyable experience that could easily have been a great experience.
Beautiful grounds and plantation. But of a drive. Would definitely suggest a GO pass to pay for several attractions
An awsome designed house. Good veiw into history
The home and grounds were very well kept and our tour guide was great! She knew a lot about the family and the home. Only thing I would say was disappointing is that the slave houses were self guided and the tour guides could talk about this section there was so much interesting sections here.
