My experience with this location is strictly based on the nature trails and hiking. I have not visited any formal rural life exhibits, only seen them from the trails. Regarding the trails, they have been one of the places my family returns to die to the location being near my home. The paths are well kept and flat. There is virtually no elevation change on the property. The scenery is typical of the area, though with a little more diversity in plant life. Placards mark and describe trees of interest. There is a boardwalk section over a bayou which is one of the highlights. None of the individual trails are long distance. Most of the small trails are less than a quarter of a mile. However, the perimeter trail is around two miles. I imagine you could combine and mix and max trails and manage to walk 4 or 5 miles in total without walking the same path twice, if you were really creative. This is a nice place, close to Baton Rouge, to stretch your legs in nature. One complaint is the interstate noise from the trails. At one point you can see how close the interstate is from the hiking trails. There is nothing that can be done about it, and I still keep going back, but it is a consideration nonetheless.

We had a great time here. We took a hike on the trails and it was a nice activity to do while still staying socially distant. The trails were well maintained and marked. There are even maps in a few places to make sure you don't get lost. It was a pretty flat hike, so good to do with young kids. The playground is nice too if you're just looking to get out.

Perfect spot for photo shoot! Took my kids Spring photos here and they were all lovely. Flowers in full bloom.

Beautiful landscape and scenery. Nice for long walks in open air and picnics if you would like. Also hood for bike rides as well. The museum was really nice to see the rich old history of Baton rouge and the surrounding areas. A lot of people don't like to talk about how Louisiana was built but it's good to see LSU acknowledge that and put it on display.

Great piece of paradise in the middle of a concrete city
