Was and in many ways still is the nicest mansion in Florida built with folly pocket money which includes its own private railway garage rivaling grand central station!!!nnHow else do you roll when you're a green robber baron investing your hard earned money in rail earning 8,000 acres of Florida per mile of track? It's no wonder he went all the way to Key West!!nnHey, I went to Flagler College and Love the man's legacy, his story, and his daughter's philanthropy.nnHis mansion's the bees knees, especially considering how early it is.
Very historical mansion from the gilded era. You can take a self-guided tour that you can download on the app store and the entrance fee for adults was $18. The tour is self paced and you are allowed to take pictures but no flash. Everyone was required to wear a mask and when we went on a Wednesday afternoon there weren't very many people. I would definitely recommend this museum if you appreciate architecture & history.
Definitely something to see while in the Palm Beach area. Wonderful app for a self-guided tour. Staff was great. We visited in early 2021 while pandemic restrictions were in place, so there were very few visitors at a time. Be sure to purchase tickets for your time slot ahead.
Really enjoyed my visit here and found it relaxing and well laid out and informative. Reservations were easy to make online and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful from start to finish. The actual home and the rooms that you can view are decorated at a level of opulence you would more expect to see in Europe. Definitely worth the visit and be sure not to miss the railroad coach that you have to walk outside to a different but also beautiful building.
Interesting part of Palm Beach history. Self guided your was perfect for me and an out of town guest. Beautiful grounds and worth the visit. Take a stroll along the lakefront after your tour.
