Sea Star Waldorf School - Grades 1-8

We have been at Sea Star School for two years now. We have four children at the school, 2nd grade, 1st grade, kindergarten and preschool. From the moment I walked into the early childhood, I felt a sense of warmth I knew my children would feel as well. They have made wonderful friends and beg to go to aftercare when I pick them up. When my husband and I toured the Grades school we were speechless. The children make their own text books, their art is incredible etc. etc. My 1st and 2nd graders are thriving as well and making great friends. They love playing in the amazing oak tree hammock with their classmates and the older children. In order to understand how incredible the faculty, academics and well roundness of the school are, you have to ask for a tour. Words cannot fully express how amazing it all is.

Worst school ever! If you're thinking about sending your child there don't! It is a school to train house wives. Only activities like crocheting, knitting, jump roping and gardening are taught. Child entered the school in the first grade after 2.5 years that child is still reading on a 1.1 level and scored lower in math when tested and compared to the standard in the US. the same standard that it used to determine entrance into universities. No test or spelling words the entire school year. How is anyone going to take the ACT's or SAT's to get into a university if the proper test taking skills were never taught? I get it no one like standardized testing, but that is what the reality is. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean that it is ok to pretend it is not a part of the educational system in America. The only homework was given out more than half way threw the year, and is never graded. When the school was asked to provide what growth the child has made they said they could not provide that data because they do not like to label their students. So they would rather not Acknowledge that a child is falling behind and help that child because he or she might feelndifferent?!! Absolutely absurd! Let's sweep educational weakness under the rug and focus on growing the perfect carrot, because that's what makes you feel better. If you want your child to be ready for university do not send he or she to this day camp! Give your child a fighting chance with a proper educational corner stone!!!

Couldn't speak more highly of this wonderful, beautiful, developmentally appropriate school- especially in this age of high-stakes testing and other nonsense.
