Lovely little hike to add on to Harkening Hill to see an historic farm, barn, sitting house, garden.

Nice hike but would have been nice to know the house was closed. Beautiful scenery though.

Was a fun hike to get out there. The people working were super knowledgeable! The only downside were the gnats. Not sure if that's typical there or if we just came at a bad time but they were unbearable. The kiddos had a great time still.

Johnson Farm is a preferred destination for our little ones each summer. The hike is a gently winding ascent thru hardwoods and rhododendrons and over trickling streams. We rarely pass more than 2-3 hikers on weekdays. Cresting a final hill, the little intact depression-era farm is suddenly revealed below through a break in the trees.nnThe farm’s volunteer hosts are generous with their time and engage kids and adults alike by pointing out interesting artifacts and describing the family who lived there nearly 100 years ago. Split logs scattered around the yard and woodpile offer shady spots for the light lunch we always bring. We had a great time observing a docile black snake shading itself on a fence. If you follow the loop trail, it’s all downhill and thru a rolling meadow back to the trail head. You’ll enjoy this easy hike!
