It was late in the day (awhile back) and my daughter and I were sightseeing so the sign for this place caught our attention. The tour guide was very willing to show us about and incredibly knowledgeable. The house is very interesting even though it is not in it's original location or set up in it's original grandeur. The grounds needs lots of work, but if you like architecture and history, then it is worth a visit.

Absolutely beautiful. We had our wedding here and the grounds were perfect. The Museum is very interesting and the staff is very knowledgeable.

The docent was really nice and welcoming. I went with a group and she was very flexible and patient, and willing to answer questions. Parking is a little difficult.

Wilton House is a jewel of a Colonial brick Georgian mansion. William Randolph shows his individualism in its design and interior trim with unique details. The house was dismantled, not easy for a solid brick house, moved 14 miles upstream on the James River to save it from demolition, and reassembled. Katie, our guide, is thoroughly knowledgeable about the Randolph family and the history of the house. It is a house to be seen even if you aren't interested in Colonial American history.

Excellent view into Central Virginia's past. Unique historic home. Different from other historic homes because of unusual brickwork and wood paneling. Beautiful grounds. Excellent guides.
