Hilton Richmond Downtown

Overall nice hotel. Good location in the city. Quick walk to VCU campus and to Capitol park. Super friendly staff. Room was nice but basic. If you just want a simple but nice room this is the place to go.nnOnly huge downside is valet parking is $27 per day! Use other parking across the street to save a few dollars.

A terrible experience. The first room was not cleaned (hair all over the place, to include random fake lashes on the doorframe). Then the manager on duty basically said he didn’t know what to do so asked me if I wanted the maintenance guy to clean the room again. Obviously not. So then they moved me to a different, and markedly better room as far as size, view and light is concerned. I was satisfied with the move until the drain randomly and sporadically (and loudly!) starts gurgling around 10 pm. I was almost asleep when this first happened, and it continued to happen. The same manager could not have sounded more chipper (read dismissive) to speak with me again about another problem, and of course no apology was offered. Maintenance guy took like 20 minutes to come to my room to address it. Good thing I don’t have to work tomorrow... oh wait. This is not the experience anyone should receive, let alone a loyal diamond member. The only reason it is not 1 star is because the second room would have been great if not for the awful maintenance issue. Did I mention the maintenance guy making phone calls while he was in my room working at almost midnight? Not worth the expensive price and constant headache.

I really wanted to like my stay. At first, everything at this hotel seemed great. They only offer valet parking which I did not realize but I needed parking and did not complain much. People were very kind and accommodating, the place was clean and the rooms were spacious. The layout is a little inconvenient of you have bags with you because your room could be very far from the elevator so that is something to consider if your bags are not easy to carry. The pool and gym were in great condition and I was able to walk through the downtown area to get food easily.nnThe problem came at checkout when the valet returned my car damaged. The sideview mirror was cracked and the side was broken. Its frustrating to pay so much for parking and to have this happen. It was very inconvenient to drive 9 hours with this issue. It has also been hard trying to get them to admit that it is their fault. Luckily with alot of headache and phone calls they have said they would pay for the repairs. So if you stay here,remember to take photos of your car before handing it over to them.

The rooms had a very classy look. It had a sofa, high ceilings, and high windows which you don’t see very often in hotels. I was a bit sad to see the jacuzzi temporarily closed in the pool room but I understand things lately aren’t the same as they were before. Location of the hotel is great and every single staff was kind and welcoming. Ryan and the whole front desk staff was top notch with their hospitality service. I wish I could’ve stayed longer but I would definitely come back again.

Very friendly staff at the valet and front desk. Easy access off I 95. Rooms are spacious and clean. Burger and wings were both great.
