Swannanoa

I was involved in restoration work on the building in the mid-90s it is just an awesome place especially when you think about how long ago it was built and what it took to build it

I was so grateful to the owners for allowing me to reserve a private tour for my fiancé's birthday. He had mentioned wanting to see Swannanoa several times and I felt lucky to reserve a tour. We were able to spend a great deal of time inside, and Mrs. Dulaney was very accommodating but I couldn't help but infer she was tired of showing the home. I felt sorry that she was so burdened by such a lovely historic home and wished I could help more, knowing she was dealing with the declining health of her husband. I wish we were able to help her in some way. Mrs. Dulaney is such a kind and hospitable woman with plenty of stories to share, and I hope one day the home is able to be restored to its original splendor. If she ever needs docents we are at the ready! A lovely home with a unique story, and we hope to visit again.

Really enjoyed my visit there. Our tour guide was amazing. So many things to tell us, family history.
