This is a very cute free museum. It's only open Sundays or by appointment, but it is so worth the time. My friends and I were lead through the house by a retired local school teacher. She told us the history, but also the stories. She took great care in explaining how the women bought and sewed, knit and wove to make clothes. How the various gadgetry and new fangled technology worked, like the coffee roaster on the OSCO stove. It was well worth our time and equally well worth yours.

I lived in Portsmouth for five years, working for BWC. I tell everyone I know, how beautiful the mountains are. On the forth of July the echoes of the fireworks sounds louder.nI lived on 20th street, right behind the 1810 red historical house. I visited that house a few times. My daughter wants to see Portsmouth for herself, since we brag about it so much. I want to visit also.
