Very good displays showing the locations in the valley below and a balanced history of the sad events.
It is actually very difficult to rate this place. I am not treating it for the signage. It's a sobering experience. The fact that the largest massacre of Native Americans in the history of the west took place here is horrifying. The historiography on the plaques is also a very telling tale and disturbing in that a massacre was once called a battle and all they focused on was the soldiers and their plight is unconscionable. I like the new plaque, but it still seems too subtle. I'm just glad that Darren Parry is helping his tribe get recognition and funds to build the interpretive center. I look forward to the day that it is built to fully honor the Shoshone people in the right way.
Very helpful and informational. I love to see history, and this was a perfect site to see into our past. Lots of information, and a great place to stop if you get the chance!
