Steamboat Grand

We chose this hotel specifically for the hot tub and the pool. Despite talking to a representative at the hotel on the phone and in person they neglected to tell us about the reservation system for the pool until we arrived at 9 am before our check in at 4 to tell us that the pool was on a reservation system. We checked all throughout the day for openings at the pool, but none became available and when we approached the attendant at the pool he said we were “just out of luck”. Do not come here if you want to utilize the amenities that they advertise which you pay for and end up to not be able to even use.

We booked this hotel excited to get away and have a last few days of skiing. We texted them to find out if night skiing would be available when we were there. They said night skiing was closed for the season, but failed to tell us the closing date for regular skiing. The resort website also does not tell you the closing date. In fact, it doesn’t seem to be advertised clearly anywhere. So we can’t go skiing, but it gets worse. The hot tubs, pools, and gym are also all closing. So basically we are paying almost $300 to stay in a place for two nights where everything is closed. Of course, I want to cancel. But they won’t accept a cancellation a week out from the stay without either taking all of my money or 10%. Unclear which. Greatly disappointed. We wanted to give Steamboat another chance after one bad experience and now we are stuck with this.

Fantastic place to stay. About a 1 minute walk from the base of the slopes where there is numerous lifts and the gondola. A bit pricy but overall worth the money. There is a heated pool and hot tub. A variety of restaurants within the hotel and a 5 minute walk of the hotel. And they even have a ski and snowboard storage near the base so you don't have to carry it to/from your room. I look forward to returning.
