Mesa County Animal Control

They are always kind and helpful. My cat went missing for a few days. They have a board that the public can pin missing signs or information about animals on which is nice and helpful. The front desk workers were very nice when my cat was missing.

We just brought home our second rescue (the first one came from Roice-Hurst Humane) and Animals Services was great to work with. They care very much for all the animals that end up in their facility. We had to provide proof of rabies shots for our current cat and dog, as will as our dogs license. The adoption included a rabies vaccination plus the other standard vacs, spay/neutering if needed, and a Mesa County license.nnRESCUE DON'T BUY FROM BREEDERSnn**Follow-Up**nReading some of the other reviews I must say people do not seem to understand how this system works. ALL animal shelters in Mesa County spay/neuter every cat and dog that comes through their doors. They will not release an unaltered animal without a written agreement that you will get the procedure done or until they're done it themselves, depending on the place.nnAlso, it bears pointing out that animal control serves the entire county and receives over 1000 calls per month.

Staff treat customers like they are a inconvenience, they act like you wanting to adopt a pet is a hardship for them. Would not recommend to anyone looking for a rescue animal. They will paperwork you to death and then tell you that basically you are a scumbag for not carrying your rental agreement with you. Maybe if they had all that on their website then folks would not come without every line if paperwork needed. But they just expect you to be psychic. The fact that we live over an hour away meant nothing. Typical government run place.

The ladies were extremely caring. They made the euthanasia at least bearable. My most sincere thanks to all of you from myself and my kitty Monoxide.

Nice enough staff... but it is a real bummer that when your dog sneaks out of your gate you are told over the phone that they will work with you and let you have him back for $20 but when you get down there you get surprised with a hefty $200 ticket . They said they were going to work with me . This is NOT what I would consider working with me .
