I’m very upset with Cornwell. My window has FALLEN IN TWICE and I have submitted numerous requests and have visited the office at least 5 times. They have “measured” 3 times and nothing has happened and it has been 4 months. This is a huge safety problem. DO NOT lease with them unless necessary.nAlso, we are in a pandemic and their maintenance people were not wearing masks, very disrespectful.

When ever there was a problem with your apt, the response was really slow and bad. Had a lot of bad interactions with the people that work for cornwell. Water went out at Palmer place unexpectedly and they didn’t consider it an emergency and we couldn’t reach anyone. If there’s any problems on The Weeknd you’ll never get through to anyone. On top of that they are stingy about parking passes but then when someone is in your spot won’t really do anything about it. Their classic response is “umm I don’t really know but you can call this person yourself.”

Do not sign with cornwell unless you want to get ripped off. Sign with kleinpenny rentals. Theres a reason Kleinpenny has over 200 reviews and a 5 star rating and cornwell does not.nnI lived in Courtside apartments. Cornwell took a huge portion of our security deposit to “fix and paint” the drywall in the apartment under ours because our toilet constantly ran leaked because it was old and cheap. We scheduled a request to have it fixed and it was never taken care of. They also charged almost $600 to repaint the apartment. Most of the walls are made of brick. Luckily I know the people who live there now and can tell nothing was repainted in a professional way, if at all when i visited. It looked the same as when we left, an old coating of paint that was clearly thrown on without masking or repairing any dry wall years ago, and a thick coating of mold all over near the ceiling. They charged us for “items thrown out of window during move out”, when we lived in a buildings right next to one another that housed approximately 96 other people. The stairs leading up to the apartment and the stairwells were disgusting, even for a college apartment. The laundry facility always had a broken door and machines that didn’t work correctly. The one time the coin machine actually “worked” and didn’t have an out of order sign on it, it took a $20 from me. I emailed the office a couple of times and nothing was ever done about it. We were also charged for carpet cleaning, which I understand the price if the apartment actually had carpet anywhere other than the small bedrooms. It has taken over a month and a half to receive or security deposits back. I hope people in cornwells other locations had a better experience.nnI had a much better experience with Kleinpenny Rentals at the hot tub apartments. We left our apartment in way worse condition when we moved out and the only thing we were charged with was $100 fee to clean. Our oven stopped working one evening on a weekend and Mr. Kleinpenny made sure to have a working one installed that night because he didn’t want us to go without eating. He gave us the option to clean the apartment ourselves rather than him hiring a crew to do it and he would even pay us what he would have paid the cleaning crew. There was always someone cleaning and keeping the apartment building nice. One of my roommates even paid an extra semester of rent and Kleinpenny made sure to deliver it to him and notify him that he had made a mistake and was returning his money.

Graduating in May is going to be bitter sweet; while I’m so happy to be graduating, I’m sad to be leaving Palmer Place Apartments. Unit 112 has become my home away from home, thanks in part to your amazing staff. No matter what we needed, Cornwell responded quickly. I always felt safe living at Palmer Place and I was very comfortable with maintenance coming in to make repairs even when no one was home. You’re an amazing rental company. Anyone looking for a large, clean, quiet, updated and stylish apartment in Athens should call Cornwell Properties. I’ll miss you all!nnNikki Worcester
