Cold Spring

Beautiful views. Cute little charming town with natural valleys that sparks the mind.

Great place to visit upstate. Nice trekking areas and options. Advise: if there are a lot of people book a table to eat, otherwise you will have a hard time.

SO CROWDED. Granted, it was a Saturday, holiday weekend, beautiful weather, but it was uncomfortably crowded on the streets, all the outdoor dining spaces had a minimum of an hour wait. At 3pm. Even challenging in some of the lovely antique stores. This little hamlet needs the business, but is not equipped to handle it all on the same day with COVID protocols. Go on a weekday if you can.

I've been heading up to Cold Spring for the better part of a decade, to get away from the insanity of Jersey City and NYC. A peace and quiet pocket of an isolated suburbia...well, not TOO isolated anymore, because more city tourists come here than I'd prefer, defeating the purpose of my visit. Still, sitting by the water with the sun shining down on me while reading a book or listening to music is a treat I look forward to a couple of times a Summer. No place like Cold Spring.

Very cold and quiet in winter but lovely town
