Was an over all great day with the little ones. Not necessarily the biggest zoo, but free parking, for 6 of us being 2 adults and 4 kids it cost under $40 to get in. Diverse animal groups to see and visit. Takes about an hour to hour and a half to slowly walk and take everything in. If you rush it, 30 min zoo tops. Staff were very friendly. Playground was closed during this visit and it appeared so was the food vendor as well. Bathrooms open and functional.
This is a nice mid-sized zoo, and it is great for kids. We found it clean and convenient, if a little bit cold.nnThere's a good variety of animals, and generally, the enclosures seemed adequate. We did feel like some of the large cats and the wolves could have used more space, but presumably experts determined that this worked.nnMy son loved the train. Great photo opportunities abound. There's a huge play area also, but playgrounds are plentiful in New York, so I wouldn't go to the zoo just for the playground.
Nice small zoo. Glad to see them working on repairs and upgrades. It would be nice if they could get more land and make some of the enclosures larger for the animals. The explore/play areas are a nice touch. Great idea to have kids try to walk a moving plank to get an idea of what life may be like for a squirrel.
It needs a bit of updating. It’s hard w/ the pandemic and everything but they could definitely take some cues from “The Wild” on how to keep people coming back and stay relevant... Updates, Events, and New things to keep people coming back and keep it fresh. Unfortunately the Utica Zoo has the same look, layout, and animals as they’ve had for years for the most part. Would love to see them update some exhibits and not have so many empty exhibits... Hopefully they find a way to renew the excitement and bring more guests..
Enjoy winter fun at the zoo. Take a refreshing walk and visit many cold tolerant animal friends like the sea lion, lamas, zebra and inquisitive goats. The view by the entrance is breathtaking.
